Interview with Dr. Steven Hotze, author of Hypothyroidism, Health and Happiness

HypothyroidismABOUT HYPOTHYROIDISM, HEALTH AND HAPPINESS

Have you ever thought to yourself, “I think I might have a thyroid problem. I’m tired all the time, no matter how much I exercise, I can’t seem to lose weight, my hair’s falling out, and overall I just feel blah.” If so, it is essential that you explore the very real possibility that indeed, you do have hypothyroidism. In Hypothyroidism, Health & Happiness, Dr. Steven Hotze reveals how commonly hypothyroidism is overlooked, misdiagnosed, and mistreated in women and men, and gives you just the information you need to prepare yourself to obtain help.

Too often, individuals with all the signs of low thyroid are prevented from accessing the simple, inexpensive and effective treatment for hypothyroidism. Instead, they are told their blood work is “normal.” Find out why they owe it to themselves to believe what their bodies are telling them, rather than the results of their blood tests.

Dr. Hotze has been on a mission to get this message into the hands of women and men, particularly those in midlife, for more than 20 years. The answers you will find in this book about the signs, symptoms and treatment of low thyroid conditions are no longer a part of the conventional medical approach to hypothyroidism.

Inside, you will learn:

The historical basis for identifying and treating hypothyroidism Underlying causes of hypothyroidism Clinical signs and symptoms that may mean you have hypothyroidism The little-used thyroid blood test that identifies thyroid disorders in spite of a “normal” TSH Other individuals just like you who are now healthy, well, and thriving Simple at-home test you can do as a starting point towards discovering if you have low thyroid And more Dr. Hotze has a saying, “If you are sick and tired of being sick and tired, then you owe it to yourself to take charge of your health and get your life back.” By arming yourself with the information in this book you can take the first step towards restoring your health, transforming your life and improving your world.

Could you please tell us a little about your book?

The premise of Hypothyroidism, Health & Happiness is that the dramatic decline in the health of the American public, specifically, the decline in your health or your family’s health is primarily caused by hypothyroidism.

Did something specific happen to prompt you to write this book?

Yes. Hypothyroidism is a common disorder which unfortunately is commonly unrecognized and undiagnosed by many physicians.  It is heartbreaking to see individuals suffering when there is a simple solution to their health issues.

After witnessing the dramatic recovery of many of my patients, I was determined to find a way to share this message with millions of Americans who desperately need help.

The goal of this book is to help people understand their debilitating symptoms and how to find optimal treatment. Hypothyroidism is often the cause of many common symptoms and chronic illnesses, but with education on this topic men and women can restore their health and transform their lives.

What cause are you most passionate about and why?

My focus and passion is to help women and men obtain and maintain health and wellness naturally, in an environment of extraordinary hospitality and guest experiences.  When people are able to take charge of their health, they can transform their lives and renew the world around them.

Do you have any rituals you follow when finishing a piece of work?

That is a great question.  There is a discipline that I use before I start any project, which is writing my idea as a goal.   It is important that I make the goal specific and give it a deadline.  Then I take immediate action, whether that means writing out an outline or researching that topic.  It is also important that I let others know about my goal, so that they can support me and hold me accountable to finishing it. Thinking through your idea and taking action will go a long way to making your project a success.

What is the most important thing in your life right now?

Right now I am in the middle of a book tour that will through the first half of 2014.  It has been exciting to travel across the country, appearing on various networks, meeting local industry leaders and having the opportunity to promote this message of hope through the natural treatment of hypothyroidism.

What are you currently working on?

After writing Hypothyroidism, Health & Happiness, it became clear to me that I needed to write an additional book that focuses on optimal health through vitamin supplementation.  Many Americans are overwhelmed and are unsure about the vitamins they should take, so this book will highlight many of the critical vitamins necessary to achieving optimal health and wellness instead of relying on pharmaceutical drugs. My goal is to publish this book in 2014.

What are some of your long term goals?

Due to an increasing demand for our services, Hotze Health & Wellness Center has grown tremendously the past several years. An exciting goal is that we are building a much larger wellness center in the Houston area which should be completed in 2015.  Beyond that, we are focused on growing 100X over the next 24 years so that we can provide extraordinary hospitality and guest service for thousands of individuals who are looking for natural solutions to their health problems.
