Q: Thank you for this interview, Marilyn. Can you tell us what your latest book, My Heart And Soul, is all about?

My Heart And Soul is an anthology collection of poetry, prose, letters and prayers, written over several years and varied experiences of my life.

Q: Is this your first novel?  If not, how has writing this novel different from writing your first?

Although it’s not a novel, My Heart And Soul is my first book. My first novel, Quicksand, is due to be released in the spring of 2010.

Q: How difficult was it writing your book?  Did you ever experience writer’s block and, if so, what did you do?

I wrote My Heart And Soul over many years and many different life experiences. I don’t recall ever experiencing writers block as when I am inspired by my emotions the writing just seems to flow.

Q: How have your fans embraced your latest novel?  Do you have any funny or unusual experiences to share?

I am thrilled with the feedback and letters I am receiving from my fans. I received several letters from people who received my book as a Christmas gift, telling me how much they enjoyed it and asking to be put on a list for any future books. Those kinds of letters are real treasures and are what helps to inspire me to keep writing. I love hearing from my children’s book fans as well as I know that some children consider some of my stories their favorites and that is wonderful to hear. My nephew read my stories to his unborn babies when they were still inside Mommy’s tummy and that was very special to me.

Q: When you put the pen or mouse down, what do you do to relax?

I listen to music and talk on the phone with friends, sharing about special things that are happening in our lives.

Q: What book changed your life?

The Twelve Step Book

Q: If someone were to write a book on your life, what would the title be?

New Beginnings

Q: Finish this sentence: “The one thing that I wish people would understand about me is…”

To share emotions with the outside world is allowing myself to experience a rare form of vulnerability. My poetry and prose and writings in My Heart And Soul lays bare, exactly who I am and what I believe and it takes courage to risk putting oneself out there to that extent. When it is well received, as it has been, it is very empowering and fulfilling.

Thank you for this interview Marilyn.  I wish you much success on your latest release, My Heart And Soul!
